Last week I flew to Las Vegas to attend the massive KBIS SHOW. The kitchen and bath people were joined by IBS the home builder's show next door. I walked 10 miles each of the 2 days I was there and I only glanced at the IBS exhibits. A year ago I toured the kitchen & bath exhibit hall in Shanghai China, which had many new innovations I had not seen before. How interesting that many of these new ideas were on display this year at KBIS.
Many new textures for interiors, exciting perhaps even daring colors. Saving water was a major theme especially from the foreign manufactures, as might be expected. While there was a major consensus toward functionality , personal comfort boarding on decadence was very much in evidence.
What is old is new again! Wood tops i.e. butcher- block is in. Cooper sinks of every size and shape most already with Patina aging on them, was all the rage. Much less real stone granite and more solid surfaces, Cambria introducing exotic patterns and Formica and Willsonart granite look -a-like's. Hoods are making a comeback in decorative styles of wood and metal - Stainless not included! Woods were everywhere some painted some naturally stained. Carved woods were very much in demand.
